Tournaments

How do I join a tournament? Open the menu ☰, tap Log, then the Tournament tab. Type the angler code from the organizer (it starts with P-) or open the link from their QR code, then pick or type your team and enter your name. Public tournaments are listed under Upcoming Tournaments. Judges join the same way with a judge code (J-).

How do I enter a fish? On the tournament screen, take the photo in the app during fishing hours, with today's code showing in the picture. The app adds the time and GPS position. With no signal, the catch waits on your device and is sent when you're back in range (within the organizer's late window).

Who sees where I caught my fish? Only you. Judges and the organizer see only whether the fish was inside the fishing area. See the Privacy Policy.

How do I report a tournament or a name? Tap Report on the tournament's screen. It opens an email to us with the tournament filled in; tell us what's wrong.

How do I remove someone from my tournament? As the organizer, open your tournament and go to Anglers and judges, then tap Remove next to the name and confirm. Their fish leave the standings and the judges' queue, they can't send fish or rejoin under that name, and the activity log keeps the record. Decisions a removed judge already made stand. You can remove people until the results are final.

How do I hide a public tournament or block an organizer? In Upcoming Tournaments, tap Hide on a tournament's card. To hide every public tournament one organizer posts, open one of them and tap Block this organizer. Both are saved only on your device and the organizer isn't told; tap Show hidden at the bottom of the list to undo. You can still join any tournament with its code.

The app says I was removed from a tournament. The organizer removed you, so that tournament's updates and reminders stop on your device. If you think it's a mistake, contact the organizer.

Permissions

Camera: for catch photos. Location: to center the chart, pick the nearest forecast spot and tag tournament catches. Photos: to pick catch photos from your library or save a share card. Notifications: for tournament reminders. You can say no to any of them: the forecast and chart still work, and only the features that need a permission stop (tournament entries need the camera, and location for the area check). To change a permission later, open the iPhone or iPad Settings app, then Apps › BiteGrid (or scroll down to BiteGrid on older iOS versions).

Maps and offline use

Can I use BiteGrid offline? Yes. Save an area for offline use from the chart's Offline Maps, ahead of time on Wi-Fi: its depth shading, contours and base map then work without signal. Forecasts you've loaded stay available offline, and tournament catches are sent once you have signal again. Areas you haven't saved need a connection.

Why is part of the coast not shaded? Lidar shading covers the areas that have been processed; more of Florida is being added. NOAA chart layers work statewide online.

Is it for navigation? No. See the Terms of Use.

Your data

How do I delete my data? Your settings, pins, catch log and offline maps are only on your device: delete them in the app, or delete the app to remove all of it. To delete tournament data (your name, team, photos and catches) before it is deleted automatically 12 months after the tournament ends, email hello@upswingprojects.com with the tournament name and the name you used.
